GO VOTE! (& cookies)

Get out and vote. Please. I have no doubt you’re sick of hearing about “Bronco Bama” and Romney. I’m in Virginia, so trust me, I hear you. We are super-saturated with robocalls! But here are 3 good reasons to get out there anyhow:

  1. So many people can’t vote, and fought hard so that you could. My father was born in Iraq, and when it became abundantly clear that Jews weren’t welcome, they fled.  There are so many people in so many places that lack the very basic freedoms that we take for granted in the U.S. And countless people campaigned, marched and fought for minorities and women to get the right to vote. Honor them and their legacy and vote.
  2. A whole lotta people are still overseas, fighting and sometimes dying to defend our freedom. Even more people are missing daddy, mommy or other dear ones. I can’t even start to imagine how hard that is. I may not like or agree with the decisions made by the military, but voting is a way to honor the sacrifices our military and their families are making is by (you guessed it) voting.
  3. Ideally there’s something you believe in, something near and dear to your heart. Honor yourself, your children, your vision for the future and get out there and vote.

I don’t care who you vote for. Okay, maybe I do care more than a bit, but that’s not the point. Just vote. Not because the other guy is secretly a werewolf who eats little children, but because everyone has something to say, and we have the PRIVILEGE of voting due to the efforts of so many people.

And much less importantly, but more tastily…California Almond board has a contest for nutrition professionals, and I’ve entered my Intense Cocoa Bites. They’re super simple and extremely delicious. They’re gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, vegan, sugar-free and uber delicious. Actually, they work for any allergy (nut allergic peeps can sub pepitas, and that’s yummy too!) Pretty please vote for me? You can vote every day if you’re so inclined.

About Cheryl Harris

Life played a funny trick on me. I've studied nutrition for years, and much to my surprise, found out that I could manage many of my health issues via diet. I've been GF for years, and I've got a bunch of allergies and sensitivities. But it definitely doesn't keep me from cooking, baking and enjoying my food. Thanks for stopping by.
